Arrived in London
So I went to sleep and woke up in London. The entire plane travel experience over big distances seems quite unreal, and it will continue tomorrow morning.
Today I didn't really have any plan so while I was getting adjusted to the London airport I did familiar things...found a bathroom, (yes, always a must), got a medium soy hot chocolate, exchanged money, bought a phone card, and called Lisa.
This all helped me feel oriented, so I then tackled the idea of checking my email and my blog. These are not familiar activities, so I had a lot more wishing that they didn't have to happen. But I braved the flat wall of computers against a wall, and put in 2 Pounds for 10 minutes. They guy next to me was equally frustrated with his efforts to get things to work...so we began talking. What a friendly person.
Andy is a local to London person, so I asked for suggestions about how to spend the day. I also told him about my love of the American reality TV show the amazing race, and asked if he could give me a task and a place to go. Andy sort of got the idea, so he have me the project of:
1. Go to the underground tube and study the map of the underground.
2. Get the tube to Leistre Square
3. From Leister Square, find your way to Covent Garden
4. Find the bar with a view of the 6 ft. xmas balls.
It was so much fun to find the big silver christmas balls, and work my way through the city with a sense of purpose...as odd as that may sound. I'll try to put the photos on the site when I have better access to a computer.
I enjoy hearing form you all so let me know if there is something special you'd like to hear about, and I'll see what I can do.
All for now, with love,
Sara
